Two days ago Theodore Van Kirk, the last crew member of the Enola Gay died:
The last surviving member of the U.S. crew that dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, hastening the end of Second World War and moving the world into the atomic age, has died.
Theodore Van Kirk died Monday of natural causes at the retirement home where he lived in Georgia, his son Tom Van Kirk said. He was 93.
One day ago, the country on whose behalf the Enola Gay dropped the atomic bomb that deliberately targeted and killed 140,000 civilian men women and children in Hiroshima, condemned Israel for accidentally killing 15 civilian men women and children in Gaza:
The United States is condemning Israel’s shelling of a U.N. school in the Gaza Strip that was sheltering displaced Palestinians.
It’s the sharpest criticism the U.S. has levelled at Israel over the more than three weeks of fighting between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza.
Over 14 million of Chinese were killed during the Second World War. No wonder, some Chinese people today still do not buy anything made in Japan. It is interesting to note that both General Dwight Eisenhower and General Douglas MacArthur (my war hero) felt that the bombings were unnecessary. While the Japanese leaders were exploring the possibility of a conditional surrender, Jimmy Byrnes, the U.S. Secretary of State, viewed the atomic bomb as a powerful bargaining chip for post-war negotiations with the Soviet Union. Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945. We were overjoyed in Hong Kong. Today, the USA still have problems with the Russians, who are no friends of the West.
Sorry Michael but I must disagree with you regarding your statement that “Japanese leaders were exploring the possibility of a conditional surrender”. It is well documented that after the first bomb the Japanese government still wanted to go on fighting. Even after the second bomb the Japanese government was equally divided, 50/50, with willing to surrender conditionally and half wanting to continue fighting. It was the Emperor that broke the deadlock and brought and end to the 2nd World War.
Do not be deceived. If the Americans had not dropped both bombs the fighting would certainly have continued on.
The war between Hamas and Israel would stop immediately if Hamas agreed to stop sending rockets into Israel. That has been made clear from the outset but Hamas cares nothing about the residents in Gaza and has adamantly refused to stop this aggressive action and is hiding residents in areas from which the rockets are sent and then has the world thinking that Israel is the aggressor. It is time we woke up to the truth. Hamas and other radical Islamists are out to rule the world and will do anything to get their wishes.
Hamas is the biggest problem here, no question, but Netanyahu is not helping. He’s surfing a wave and not trying to solve anything. The three teenagers, it has now been admitted, were not kidnapped by Hamas.
Netanyahu is using the current crisis to consolidate his grip on power, which was beginning to slip.
Satan works evil in our world. He can use Hamas and Netanyahu to achieve his own purpose. Unbelievers are under the bondage of Satan. Please note that not all sin is caused by Satan or demons. But demonic activity is probably a factor in almost all destructive activity that opposes the work of God in the world. Jews and Arabs need to turn to the triune God.
