The Sparkle Creed

Every time I think it is impossible to outdo the incoherent fog that has taken up residence in the minds of Anglican Church of Canada clergy, the United Church comes to the rescue. Here is Rev. Rachel Small Stokes from Immanuel United Church of Christ in Louisville inviting the congregation to join her in reciting The Sparkle Creed.

  1. Ok, grew up in the United Church went to various others too including the APOC PAC & the Anglican Church close to Regent College but after split 2002 our Church was really against ‘Blessing Same-Sex Unions’ divided a family dinner when showing letters from our Lobby. 2020 attended RC became one 2023 & hence I stay. The 20 Articles Of Religion of The United Church a Presbyterian Minister who’d joined the United Church commented, “They are the finest articles written…”, used to email each other. Sunday School once the best the Anglicans took it on. Many strengths! Martin Luther 2nd most popular to Schleiermacher is who the United Church followed not Calvin Or Wesley at all is a German Romantic Liberal! Methodist & Presbyterian never united in 1925 had nothing to do with it but the former took the lead. That’s it. Liberal from 1925. They’d reunited the 3 denominations split into about 5 each in the 1800s & went to study Schleiermacher & brought him back. 3rd was Congregational. They ‘United’ in that they joined Schleiermacher is the truth.

  2. Time will tell about all of this. If a Church meets peoples’ needs attendance accompanies it. The United Church in the 1950s had the best Sunday School program that the Anglican Church took it on too. In this era were the biggest and the best of all. But coming from a United Church background and born in 1960 found the United Church kind of strange too had a dead atmosphere in it and members were old mostly ladies who didn’t change a bit with all that went on looked like the 1940s how can they relate to young people but the theology is anything but the 1940s. In the 50s UCC built a new building a week now close a building a week. Say the word, “Evangelical” is like saying a swear word is very intolerant and UCC is liberal? Liberal is supposed to be tolerant but seems intolerant.
