From here:
Interfaith dialogue
Canada is an increasingly pluralistic country, and more and more Canadians are living, working, and socializing side by side with people of other religious traditions. For Christians, there is a growing need not just for dialogue with people of other faiths, but for genuine relationships with them. Increased awareness of religious plurality, the potential role of religion in conflict, and the growing place of religion in public life all present urgent challenges that require greater understanding and cooperation among people of diverse faiths.The Anglican Church of Canada pursues formal dialogue with people of other faiths together with the other member churches of the Canadian Council of Churches.
I would like to commend the ACoC on this initiative. In fact, Interfaith Dialogue is so important, I feel compelled to make a contribution. So here goes:
Islam is wrong.
David,
You are only saying Islam is wrong because you are a hate-filled Islamophobe.
Let’s count how many of those you get.
All Abrahamic traditions attract ‘nutters’. No one is exempt. There seems to be this notion that all Muslims are jihadists, which is untrue. There are extremists in all so called ‘people of faith’ groups. People who kill in the name of God, who pillage and ransack all of course with God on their side.
Islam is no more “Abrahamic” than Mormonism.
quit apologizing for Muslims- or have you recently been to an Anglican service and been tenderized?- don;t compare Christians to those godless beasts- could you please let me know the last time in history that a Christian killed for Jesus?-
Perhaps it’s time that you pick up a newspaper. Try googling what Christian militias are doing in Africa. Unfortunately, we’re no less “beasts” than the next.
Here is one sad article from this past year….
http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/01/13/central-african-republic-descends-in-cannibalism-after-christian-militias-go-on-rampage-after-muslim-president-resigns-flees/
Whats sad is that you take ANYTHING seriously from that anti Christian rag-
Go bark somewhere else.
I must have missed the Christian led mass beheadings. I’d definitely watch the Quakers. Still waters run deep.
damn Quakers…..
Christian nutters are nutters because they do what their scriptures tell them not to do; Muslim nutters are nutters because they do what their scriptures tell them to do.
Please share examples of “Christian nutters” murderous acts. Otherwise quit insulting our intelligence with a tortured moral equivalent construct.
Let’s see: pogroms, former Yugoslavia, Rwanda….
I made a clear distiction between variteties of nutters, so I’m confused by your confusion re: alleged moral equivalents.
Quick 2 part test: 1) does the miscreant invoke their faith for their actions. 2) do leaders in their faith community condone those actions.
I am not confused in the least. The moral equivalency garbage is specifically designed to hide the truth that Islam has a deadly submit or die strain that traces right back to the teaching and actions of the Prophet.
The Russian Orthodox peasants, whipped into frenzies by their priests at Eastertide, would storm the ghettos and burn, kill, rape, and pillage at their will. The same mentality has been displayed by EO and RC militias in former Yugoslavia. yes, faith was invoked and the religious leaders approved. In fact, the EOC under the czars had planned that 1/3 of the Jewish population should be forcibly converted, another third exiled, and the remaining third killed.
Since you insist on ignoring the distinction I made in my first answer, I’ll rephrase it for your convenience: Christian nutters do what their scriptures forbid, while Muslim nutters do what their scriptures command.
Anything else I can help you with?
Considering that the ACoC and the TEC have no real Christian faith – they worship political correctness (what a deceptive term) – as they reject both the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ thus making a mockery of the Eucharist. The primary consideration should be the weeding out of the apostates within their house and that includes Primates and bishops. As Christians we are called to evangelize in a very polite and discreet manner whereas the ACoC will simply say that all religions are the same.
Just been “ATTEMPTING” to contact Bishop Jane in Edmonton over this-but to no avail- she does not talk to the little people who pay her inflated wages- We now are in full worship mode- for ANYTHING BUT Scripture-Aboriginals- and their pagan ceremonies (now commonly practised at the Altar)- the poor-the Muslims ( who need our hugs apparently)-all the while ignoring our own parishioners- the sick, the elderly- OHWAIT- the clergy DOES contact our sick and elderly- to strong arm them for $$$$-with pre-printed commitments for up to $50000- yes- just sign here please…..can I help you with the pen?, as I see the stroke has taken the use of your writing hand-
Folks……………before I retire to Bedlam, might I suggest that the Anglican construct has no gravity. It will continue to fall like a house of cards. Lack of teaching, tithing and lack of continuity are the three main reasons. I tire of the posit that the vaunted BCP is the defining reason for being Anglican. I have yet to hear any of my R.C. acquaintanships bemoan the loss of the Latin Mass. Anglican’s tend to forget why they go. The folks at the top and we all know what office they hold………………are not true shepherds. At least as I have come to know the term. It is almost as if every Anglican Church is in competition with the other. Sad really.
“Go ye into all the world and preach The Gospel to every creature.” + Mark 16:15
– except to Mecca and the Muslims?
Today, on the Christian Sabbath, is ‘Visit My Mosque’ day in the UK.
When, on the same day, will ‘Visit My Church’ day take place in “all the world”?
We do have a “Visit my Church” day.
If “my Church” is Christ Church Cathedral, Montreal,
the question arises: which ‘gospel’ would be preached there?
The gospel of “inclusion” and “change” that really excludes from Heaven and changes nothing either now or hereafter and forever;
because The only Gospel, The Gospel of Jesus Christ declares,
“…And such WERE some of you;
but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified,but ye are justified in The Name of The LORD Jesus, and by The Spirit of our GOD……Flee fornication…your body is the temple of The Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of GOD, and ye are not your own…”
+ I Corinthians ch. 6
One’s good guess is that on that unholy ground Koran-abiding Muslims would not attend.
Show up. Talk to people. Swap quotes all you like. 🙂
Neither my presence nor more “conversation” with the faithful is the point:
grieving the Holy Spirit Whose Presence abides solely
in The Living WORD of GOD is ;
which grieving, if persisted in, requires a name change
– for the Church.
Thus the Apostle Paul to the Church at Ephesus, who also had “left their first Love” and could end up becoming the Church at
Laodicea in all “the shame of thy nakedness”. + Revelation 1-3:
“…grieve not The Holy Spirit of GOD, whereby ye are sealed
unto the day of Redemption.” + Ephesians 4:30
What’s the point of talking when it has been my experience that they have not, do not, and will not listen?
