Rifqa Bary and parents end dispute

Which on the face of it seems like good news – too good; but perhaps I am just naturally suspicious:

The long legal dispute over runaway teen convert Fathima Rifqa Bary apparently ended in Franklin County Juvenile Court late this afternoon when the girl and her parents agreed that she’ll stay in the custody of Children Services and the family will try to resolve their issues with counseling.
That leaves two options for Rifqa, who is in foster care: She could eventually reconcile with her parents and go home or stay in foster care until her 18th birthday on Aug. 10.

Rifqa admitted she was unruly when she fled her parents’ home last July to live with a Christian pastor and his family in Florida. She said at the time that her father, Mohamed, had threatened to kill her for abandoning the family’s Muslim faith, although authorities say they never found credible evidence that that was true.

Mohamed and Aysha Bary and their daughter all agreed today not to continue with the Juvenile Court dependency case. The next hearing, besides a minor hearing regarding a gag order on Monday, is set for her birthday.

Question 14264 from Canada

h/t Blazing Cat Fur

Every so often, usually when I am feeling particularly pessimistic about the imminent overthrow of Christendom by Islam, I come across something like this and it cheers me up immensely:

1. Is it true that if you sleep on your stomach the devil will sodomize you. 2. Is Harry Potter permissable and if it isn’t will everyonw who reads them go to hell.

Answer:

1. It is Makrooh (disliked) to sleep on one?s stomach. It is not true that the Shaytaan will sodomise a person who is sleeping on his stomach.

2. Harry Potter is not a good read for Muslims.
and Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
Mufti Ebrahim Desai

How about if you fall asleep on your stomach while reading Harry Potter?

Under Sharia Law everything is free!

Which, of course, is why Muslims are fleeing the UK for the greener pastures of Iran, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen – to collect not only their welfare benefits but all the free food, clothing and housing.

From here:

Hate preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed he is proud to receive £25,000 a year in benefits from the British taxpayer because the money ‘belongs to Allah’.

The extremist cleric was speaking hours after Home Secretary Alan Johnson banned Choudary’s Islam4UK group, making it a criminal offence to be a member.

British-born Choudary provoked outrage earlier this month when he announced that 500 members of his group were considering marching through the Wiltshire market town carrying empty coffins to mark Muslims ‘mercilessly murdered’ in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Asked about receiving £25,000 in benefits, the trained lawyer said: ‘I am not doing anything illegal. If we were living under the shariah there would be free food, clothing and shelter for all.

Google’s Islam bug

Google is claiming that the reason their search engine does not complete the phrase “Islam is”

Add an Image

but does have suggestions for “Christianity is”

Add an Image

is not because they are censoring search results, but because they have a bug:

But the query “Islam is”? Not a thing comes to mind for Google to suggest. (Search results are still there, of course.)

It’s enough to get some to conclude Google is censoring itself, perhaps as a result of complaints for suggestions that one guesses are just as flattering as those for other faiths.

But Google says it’s just a software problem.

“This is a bug and we’re working to fix it as quickly as we can,” a Google spokesman told Wired.com.

The bug obviously needs some work, because it has overlooked Mohammed:

Islamoffendophobia

Images of Mohammed have been pulled from the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fear of offending Muslims:

Is the Met afraid of Mohammed?

The Metropolitan Museum of Art quietly pulled images of the Prophet Mohammed from its Islamic collection and may not include them in a renovated exhibition area slated to open in 2011, The Post has learned.

The museum said the controversial images — objected to by conservative Muslims who say their religion forbids images of their holy founder — were “under review.”

Critics say the Met has a history of dodging criticism and likely wants to escape the kind of outcry that Danish cartoons of Mohammed caused in 2006.

Duelling Fatwas

A step in the right direction or a decoy to lull the unwary into a false sense of security?

A group of Canadian and U.S. Islamic leaders on Friday issued a fatwa, or religious edict, declaring that an attack by extremists on the two countries would constitute an attack on the 10 million Muslims living in North America.

The 20 imams associated with the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada said this marked the first fatwa by the Muslim clergy declaring attacks on Canada and the U.S. as attacks on Muslims.

“In our view, these attacks are evil, and Islam requires Muslims to stand up against this evil,” the imams said in their fatwa.

The imams also said it is a duty of every Muslim in Canada and the U.S. to safeguard the two countries.

“They must expose any person, Muslim or non-Muslim, who would cause harm to fellow Canadians or Americans,” they said.

The 20 imams who signed the fatwa come from B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Houston.

The fatwa comes just weeks after an attempted bombing on Christmas Day of a U.S. airliner bound for Detroit from Amsterdam.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian Muslim man, has been indicted on six charges, which include attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted murder.

The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada was founded in 2000 by Syed Soharwardy, the person who initiated the Alberta Human Rights Commission complaint against Ezra Levant for publishing the infamous Danish cartoons. The complaint was eventually withdrawn, but not before 2 years of wasted time and money.

Syed Soharwardy is the author of such nonsense as:

“Presently, what Israeli forces are doing to Palestinians is worse than the Holocaust of World War II.”

and

“Sharia cannot be customized for specific countries. These universal, divine laws are for all people of all countries for all times.”

and on Christians who assisted those struck by the 2004 tsunami:

“ISCC . . . strongly condemns the exploitation of tsunami victims by the Christian missionaries. There have been several reports that the Christian missionaries are kidnapping Muslim children in Indonesia. . . . It is now proven that the Christian missionaries do not help people on humanitarian grounds. They help people in order to exploit their needs and convert them to Christianity.”

All of which points to the likelihood that the founder of the ISCC is devious, impervious to truth and would probably do almost anything – even make sympathetic noises – to Islamise Canada.

Google is Islam

h/t: The Next Web

The ever helpful Google search engine tries to anticipate what you are searching for by filling in what it thinks you might be interested in. And, of course, it has numerous derogatory fill-ins for “Christianity is”:

But when it comes to “Islam is” gutless Google comes up with nothing:

Other search engines do have “Islam is” suggestions; Bing, for example, yields:

As a protest against Google dhimmitude,  I  have switched to Bing.

Islam and homosexuality

From the National Post:

EDMONTON — Junaid Bin Jahangir was such a devout Muslim that when he arrived in Canada he ate only yogurt for two days until he was sure which food followed halal dietary rules.

The university student prayed five times a day, and joined a local mosque.

Then one day, at age 27, he started to wonder why he had never been with a girl. “Why don’t I like women that way?” he asked, and it led him to a counselling office, where he sat, sobbing, with the realization that he was gay — a pariah to his community.

Mainstream Islamic leaders say gay men should be shunned and some around the world are killed each year.

Mr. Jahangir’s world imploded; work on his PhD ground to a halt.

But out of that despair, Mr. Jahangir began to work on another project: Understanding the teachings of Islam on homosexuality. From his office at the University of Alberta, he contacted experts, read everything he could on the subject and studied the scriptures intensely for two years, rebuilding his own identity in the process. His work is starting to be recognized internationally.

Now he argues Muslims misinterpret the Qur’an if they consider the ban on homosexuality to be as firm as bans on alcohol or pork. The common story from which most Muslims draw their teaching is about violent homosexual rape, he says, and it’s time to rethink the possibility of consensual, supportive relationships.

It is instructive to note that the same argument employed by liberal Christians to justify homosexual activity is drifting into Islam.

The comparison even extends to elevating trivial food regulations – eating pork – over matters of sexual ethics; an Anglican example of this is to forbid intinction while smiling benignly on consensual, supportive sodomy – something Ralph Spence did when bishop of Niagara.
