Canadian Muslim says Muslims in the West have more freedom than in Islamic countries

And the Pakistani ambassador walks out of UN meeting.

Human rights activist, board member of the Muslim Canadian Congress and International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) Representative Raheel Raza confronts Tariq Ramadan and the Pakistani Ambassador representing the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

Swimmers may be forced to cover themselves to avoid offending Muslims

From the Herald Sun, Australia:Add an Image

A plan to force families to cover up to avoid offending Muslims at a public event has triggered furious debate.

So far the Premier John Brumby has refused to weigh into the debate about the event, saying he will wait to see the VCAT ruling before making any comment.

VCAT has approved a ban on uncovered shoulders and thighs for a community event to be held at the Dandenong Oasis, a municipal pool.

“Participants aged 10 and over must ensure their bodies are covered from waist to knee and the entire torso extending to the upper arms,” a request by Dandenong City Council and the YMCA states in an exemption application to the Equal Opportunities Act.

If this spreads to the US, I am anticipating an outbreak of nudism protests during Ramadan 2011, possibly organised by Rev. Terry Jones. Barack Obama will declare that America is not about exposing shoulders, Fred Hiltz will call for prayer and a mutual respect for one another’s covered thighs and general Petraeus will warn that bare torsos create a distraction that puts our troops in danger.

Trinity Anglican Church, Aurora joins with local Muslims

From here:

(Aurora, ON) – A last minute decision was made on Thursday, September 9 by Aurora’s Trinity Anglican Clergy  – The Reverend Canon Dawn Davis, and the Reverends Stephen Kern and Dawn Leger would create a living answer to the threats of burning copies of the Qur’ans made by church members in Florida.

In co-operation with the Trinity Church’s resident Interfaith Minister, Rev. Terry Weller, a theme was decided upon – “The only burning we are interested in is a burning desire for “PEACE, RECONCILIATION AND RESPECT”.

A secondary theme presented was: “OUR GOD CREATED DIVERSITY ON THIS EARTH. WE HOLD THAT THERE IS UNITY IN DIVERSITY”.

While, as Christians, we should live peacefully with our neighbours of other faiths, if the message of the early church to opposing religions had been: “Our god created diversity on this earth. We hold that there is unity in diversity”, there would be no Trinity Anglican Church, Aurora. Perhaps that would not be such a bad thing.

So what was burned on September 11th?

Anjem Choudary, UK Muslim, professional dole recipient and demented Islamist mouthpiece of Islam4UK, burnt a US flag in London to cries of “Burn, burn democracy”, “democracy, go to hell”, “democracy, you will pay”:

Just before September 11th, In Pakistan a Christian man, woman and their four children were burned to death by Islamists.

Various police checkpoints were set on fire by Muslims in Afghanistan.

In Indonesia, a Christian was stabbed in the stomach and a pastor battered with a plank.

On September 11th, 115,000 babies were aborted, many burned alive with salt solution.

Anglican and other Christian leaders – not to mention Obama, less anointed politicians, Vatican officials, UN officials and uncle Tom Cobley and all – wrung their hands and pleaded with would-be Koran burners not to do it, while studiously ignoring all of the above.

Terry Jones did not burn any Korans.

Which just goes to show that it’s easier and more personally satisfying to concentrate on the inconsequential than what really matters and that grovelling to bullies in an attempt to appease them is a complete waste of time.

What made Khuram Sher turn to terrorism?

What was it that made terrorism the last option for this young man?

Rejection?

Or was it his failure to grow a convincing beard? A genetic predisposition to sartorial gaucheness, perhaps? We will never know for sure, but having just watched this, I feel like blowing something up, too.

The religion of peace wants to cut a man’s spine

From here:

A court in Saudi Arabia is seeking medical advice on whether it is possible to cut the spinal cord of a man as a punishment after he was indicted of causing paralysis to another man during a fight, a local daily reported on Thursday.

The court in the northwestern province of Tabuk has sent letters to hospitals in the kingdom asking them whether the punishment to cripple the defendant by severing his spine is medically possible, the Arabic language daily Okaz said.

……

“King Khaled Hospital is of the opinion that it is possible to cut the spinal cord and cause paralysis medically through specialist centres,” he said.

According to the paper, the verdict is pending responses from hospitals to the court’s letters.

That an act so grotesque be sought by a judicial system is bad enough, but when it is law derived from a religion, it can only mean one thing: the religion is as grotesque as the law.

Hamas agrees with Obama’s preposterous endorsement of ground zero mosque

Just what Obama needs for his approval ratings: Hamas agreeing with him:

A leader of the Hamas terror group yesterday jumped into the emotional debate on the plan to construct a mosque near Ground Zero — insisting Muslims “have to build” it there.

“We have to build everywhere,” said Mahmoud al-Zahar, a co-founder of Hamas and the organization’s chief on the Gaza Strip.

After saying what he really thinks in an unguarded moment, Obama is now trying to extract both feet from his momentarily incontinent mouth:

President Barack Obama, who recently voiced his support for the building of a Mosque two blocks away from Ground Zero in New York City, now says he was only expressing the importance of the legal right to religious freedom, not giving the project his stamp of approval.

But it is impossible to see the second paragraph here as anything less than presidential approval:

“As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country,” Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York City and Americans.

“That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances,” he said. “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.”

Meanwhile St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church has been trying to exercise its “right” to rebuild for 9 years and has seen nothing but a commitment to bureaucratic obstacles. But, then, it is Christian, so why would Obama or anyone else in his administration care?

The story of the tiny St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and its efforts to rebuild after the collapse of the World Trade Center is one of well-intentioned promises that led to endless negotiations, design disputes, delays and mounting costs.

Within a month of the attack on the trade center, Archbishop Demetrios, primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, pledged that the four-story church would rise “on the same sacred spot as a symbol of determined faith.” Gov. George E. Pataki agreed.

But today, the church exists only on blueprints. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the agency overseeing reconstruction, has not finalized the exchange of land needed to provide the congregation with a new home near ground zero. Until that deal is completed, the authority cannot proceed with building the southern foundation wall for the entire site, and cannot draw up designs for a bomb screening center for buses and trucks that would go under the new church.

And because security is crucial, delays in the vehicle security center mean delays in other parts of the site.

Obama expresses support for Dearborn Christians

Don’t be silly, of course he didn’t. Obama’s commitment to religious freedom only works one way: the Muslim way. He doesn’t give a fig for the 3 Christians arrested in Dearborn for sharing the Gospel with Muslims; why would he? – after all, slapping Christians around has become a national sport second only to pandering to Islam. And Obama is a practiced panderer.

From here:

US President Barack Obama on Friday forcefully endorsed allowing a mosque near the site of the former World Trade Center, saying the country’s founding principles demanded no less, even as 70 percent of US citizens opposed the mosque’s construction in a recent poll.

A Canadian moderate Muslim speaks against the ground zero mosque

Raheel Raza tells us Mayor Bloomberg and other bleeding heart white liberals like him don’t understand the battle that moderate Muslims are faced with when confronting radical Islam. Let’s add the bleeding heart white liberals in the National Council of Churches to that.
