UK: 15 year old girl arrested for burning a Koran

From here:

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Koran.

The 15-year-old, who lives in the West Midlands, allegedly posted the video, filmed two weeks ago on her school premises, on Facebook.

The video was reported to the school and subsequently removed, police said.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of making threats. Both have been released on police bail.

It is thought the girl, who lives in the Sandwell Council area, was allegedly filmed setting the booklet alight while other pupils watched.

Two Facebook profiles have also been removed from the site, police added.

It is understood that the group who published that version of the Koran have since been to the school to talk to pupils.

This is politically correct idiocy in so many ways.

While burning a Koran may be hazardous to the health of the person doing the burning – just as playing chicken with an oncoming locomotive is – it is an act that will cause offense, not incite “religious hatred”. In fact, if religious hatred is anywhere in evidence in this situation, it is not because it’s been conjured out of nothing by a spot of thoughtless inciting.  The predictable – and routine at this point – reaction to a Koran burning is an existing hatred exposed, not incited.

So the teenager was arrested for offending people. Had she offended Christians by defacing a Bible, she would not have been arrested; no one would have cared. She was arrested because she offended Muslims.

Perhaps she should be applauded for performing a public service: the extremist Muslims in the UK whose hatred she manages to focus so adroitly will be rumbled and could be arrested for real, tangible, dangerous and unencited religious hatred.

Michelle Obama’s unclean handshake

From here:

Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring — a conservative Muslim who says he makes no contact with women who are unrelated to him — admits he shook Mrs. Obama’s hand today, but adds that he was basically forced into it.

“I tried to prevent (being touched) with my hands but Mrs. Michelle held her hands too far toward me (so) we touched,” Sembiring said on his Twitter account.

Was the problem that Michelle didn’t wash after flushing or that the mere touch of her hand would send the minister into a frenzy of erotic lust? Not the latter, surely.

UK's Islam channel in trouble for advocating marital rape

From here:

A Muslim religious channel that allowed presenters to condone marital rape and call women who wear perfume in mosques ‘prostitutes’ has been censured by the TV watchdog.

In one programme, the host told viewers that it was ‘not strange’ and ‘not such a big problem’ for a man to force his wife to have sex.

A phone-in show in May 2008, in which a female caller asked if she had the right to hit a violent husband back, was deemed in breach of the code.

The presenter at one point stated: ‘In Islam we have no right to hit the woman in a way that damages her eye or damages her tooth or damages her face or makes her ugly.

Apparently none of this bothers Lauren Booth, Tony Blair’s sister-in-law and presenter on the Islam Channel: she recently converted to Islam. That she has a bit of a blind spot concerning the Islam Channel’s view of women goes without saying, since she chose to convert while visiting Iran  – one of the most violently misogynistic regimes in the world.

It’s not all bad news, though since the newly minted Muslim Booth has assured us that:

‘Now that I’m Muslim,’ I said, ‘I will never have my breasts out in public again.’

Islamists prevent church construction in Kuwait

From here:

The government and the emir have approved the project but the Kuwait City Municipal Council refuses to issue building permits or explain its reasons for doing so. About 460,000 Christians share four official churches, two Catholic, one Evangelical and one Anglican. A Coptic church is under construction.

A group of Christians has complained that Kuwait City’s Municipal Council is preventing them from getting land to build a church. “The Municipal Council is the big problem preventing us from getting land; not all of the members, just the Islamic fundamentalists,” said Archimandrite Boutros Gharib, head of the local Greek Catholic Church.

Recently the municipal council blocked an attempt by the Greek Catholic Church to acquire land in Mahboula, an area in the Ahmadi governorate south of Kuwait City. The request has been pending for several years.

Fr Gharib noted that his church is paying US$ 6,944 a month for a villa that is also shared by two other congregations. If they did not find land soon, the church would have to close, he said. “It’s all excuses. It’s all lies,” he said. “Every time they promise, but all their promises are for nothing.”

Perhaps Fr Gharib would have more success if he called the church a Cultural Centre.

Mosque bombed in Pakistan; 60 dead

From here:

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vest inside a mosque in northwestern Pakistan during midday prayers on Friday, according to government officials, a strike apparently aimed at worshipers who had denied support to the Taliban.

State television reported that at least 60 people were killed. “At least 70 people are injured,” said Shahid Ullah, a district official in the district, near Peshawar. “Many are in a critical condition.”

Later in the day, another explosion ripped through a mosque in the same area during evening prayers, a local television news network reported. At least three people were killed and at least 14 wounded. The nature of the second blast was not clear.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the earlier bombing, Pakistani news media reported.

The attack seemed intended to punish elders of the village of Darra Adam Khel in North-West Frontier Province, who have resisted the influence of militants in the area and raised a private militia to oppose them.

Muslims who routinely riot, prance around in the street and trample each other to death to protest cartoons of Mohammed and obscure igniters of the Koran, largely ignored the bombing in order to concentrate their outrage on these more important matters. Including this troubling development:

Muslims in Mumbai are up in arms against a United States military sniffer dog allegedly with name tag of ‘Khan’ that has landed in the city as part of President Barack Obama security arrangements.

On Tuesday, the German Shepherd arrived in the Mumbai airport from a Hercules C130 transport plane. The German Shepherd allegedly had a tag around its neck which read ‘MWD Khan.’ MWD stands for Military Working Dog. Khan is alleged to be the name of the dog.

Angry Muslims in the city and the state are threatening to protest this ‘insult’ to the community.

52 Christians murdered in Iraq

From here:

Iraqi security forces stormed a Baghdad church where militants had taken an entire congregation hostage for four hours, leaving at least 52 people dead, including a priest, Iraqi officials said Monday.

It was not immediately clear whether the hostages died at the hands of the attackers or during the rescue late on Sunday night in an affluent neighbourhood of the capital.

The incident began when militants wearing suicide vests and armed with grenades attacked the Iraqi stock exchange at dusk Sunday before turning their attention to the nearby Our Lady of Deliverance church — one of Baghdad’s main Catholic places of worship — taking about 120 Christians hostage.

Maj. Gen. Hussein Ali Kamal, the deputy interior minister, said 52 people were killed and 67 wounded in the bloodbath. Officials said at least one priest and 10 policemen were among the dead. Many of the wounded were women.

The Daily Mail notes: “The group, which is linked to al Qaeda in Iraq, said it would ‘exterminate Iraqi Christians’ if jailed militants were not freed.”

It seems that those ubiquitous generic “militants” have been a bit naughty yet again. Better not call it what it is: the mass murder of innocent worshipping Christians by cowardly Islamist terrorist thugs – we wouldn’t want to provoke an outburst of uncontrollable Islamophobia.

Fred Hiltz, Katharine Jefferts-Schori and assorted trendy bishops wrung their collective hands in horror at the mere prospect of someone igniting a Koran; one wonders what they will do to express their disapproval of Christians being murdered by followers of the Book That Wasn’t Burnt? Nothing, I imagine – it’s called asymmetrical commiserating.

Anjem Choudary, the politically incorrect Muslim

In this interview Choudary claims that, while he isn’t quite stupid enough to personally attack the people whose taxes keep him in comfort, he supports overseas efforts to take revenge on the West for trying to promote civilisation in Iraq and Afghanistan. In other words he supports those in Yemen who posted the bombs to US synagogues.

Moreover, he claims that, no matter what a Western Muslim may tell CNN in public, he will, in private agree with Choudary. Imam – it’s a cultural centre, not a mosque – Feisal Abdul Rauf undoubtedly would like to shove Choudary’s skull cap down his throat: the question is, is that because Rauf had been rumbled?

UNESCO classifies Rachel's Tomb as a mosque

From here:

Government responds sharply to cultural body’s request that Israel remove Rachel’s Tomb and Cave of the Patriarchs from list of national heritage sites; Netanyahu calls decision “absurd.”

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday slammed world culture organization UNESCO’s decision to characterize the site of Rachel’s Tomb as a Muslim mosque.

“The attempt to separate the nation of Israel from its cultural heritage is absurd,” said the prime minister.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office read, “It is unfortunate that an organization that was established with the goal of promoting the cultural preservation of historical sites around the world, is attempting due to political reasons to uproot the connection between the nation of Israel and its cultural heritage.”

Whatever next?
