Bishop affirms sanctity of life for 2SLGBTQI+, conveniently forgets about the unborn

In advance of Ottawa’s Pride March on August 27th, Shane Parker, the bishop of Ottawa urged us all to read his letter “Global Interfaith Commission on LGBT+ Lives”. The heading for the letter is: “Declaring the Sanctity of Life and the Dignity of All”.

Not quite all as it turns out. The handwringing is reserved for 2SLGBTQI+ people because “all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions are a precious part of creation and are part of the natural order.”

Around 100,000 abortions per year are performed in Canada. In 2021, 55,073 of them were surgical or aspiration abortions: the baby is sucked out of the uterus with a pump. Or, if you would like to use the euphemism employed by the abortion industry, it uses gentle suction to pull pregnancy tissue out of the uterus. My emphasis.

Some of the 55,073 aspiration abortions, would have been performed by dilation and evacuation (D&E). These are performed for late term abortion and, of course, it is another euphemism. Using normal English, it is a dismemberment abortion. The baby is torn apart in the womb in order to remove it. Oh, and the baby’s skull is crushed. Here is a detailed description:

To prepare for a D&E, the abortionist must first dilate (widen) the woman’s cervix. Generally, this is done by placing laminaria sticks, which are osmotic dilators made from sterilized seaweed, in the cervix 24 hours before the surgery and allowing them to expand. Synthetic osmotic dilators, used to slowly widen the cervix, and misoprostol can also be used for cervical dilation. After the woman’s cervix is dilated, a suction catheter is used to suck out the amniotic fluid. The abortionist then uses metal forceps (sopher clamp) with sharp metal “teeth” to grab and tear away parts of the baby until her whole body is extracted from the womb. Since the baby’s skull has usually hardened to bone at this point (calcified), it is often crushed so that it can be removed.

However, the important thing to remember when considering the sanctity of life of a human, the bearer of God’s image, is affirmation of 2SLGBTQI+ individuals. Let’s not forget that.

The Anglican Church of Canada’s PWRDF’s is evangelising El Salvador.

Conversion in this case is not so much to salvation through Jesus Christ but to salaciousness through homoeroticism.

Not only that, it is promoting ”sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)” which, stripped of euphemisms, by the government of Canada’s own definition, includes murdering unborn babies by aborting them.

And you still think the ACoC is a Christian Church?

All around the world, members of the LGBTIQA+ community face discrimination, threats, harassment, and violence, just because of their identity. In many areas, hateful views and attitudes are on the rise. Many things are to blame for this, but one of the major contributing factors is a lack of education and awareness of LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences. UNESCO suggests the inclusion of sexual diversity in educational programming as one method to prevent hateful attitudes and attacks on LGBTQIA+ people.

To combat discrimination and attempt to secure safer futures for LGBTQIA+ communities, PWRDF has partnered with long-time partner, Association CoCoSI, on a project to promote education and awareness surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in El Salvador. PWRDF will support this year-long project with $30,000. It will seek to reduce violence, harassment and prejudice against LGBTQIA+ people in six rural communities within three El Salvadorian municipalities.

The Charlotte Lozier Institute has published a chart cataloguing the COVID-19 vaccines that were either developed or tested using cells from aborted babies. Just about all of them, as it turns out:

The question is, are you willing to save your life by taking a vaccine that was developed or tested using parts of a murdered baby?

Canada is due to receive six million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the first quarter of 2021. Both vaccines were tested using aborted baby cells for some of the tests.

On the first Sunday in May many ANiC churches will be celebrating sanctity of life Sunday:

As a diocese which affirms the sanctity of life we are encouraging all our parishes to make a special effort on Sunday May 6th (this was from last year) to affirm that life is a gift from God; gift from start to finish. This could take many forms in worship, prayer and teaching.

The Diocese of Niagara, on the other hand, has Earth Sunday:

As spring is with us, Creation Matters Working Group, a National Church group, encourages your parish to prepare to celebrate Earth Sunday, either on Easter Day — April 21 — or the following Sunday, April 28.

And for a small creature — the plight of the monarch butterfly seems to have motivated so many people to plant milkweeds.

I like butterflies as much as the next Anglican but to focus one’s effort on the plight of butterflies while ignoring that of tens of thousands of aborted babies seems to be straining out a gnat – or a monarch – while swallowing a camel.

Some flags are more equal than others

As I mentioned here, for a brief period during the Ottawa March for Life, the March for Life flag fluttered valiantly atop the City Hall – until someone complained, prompting an embarrassed mayor to reassert his pro-abortion credentials and have it removed.

Last Wednesday’s edition of The Record announced that all Waterloo Region public schools will fly the “pride” flag throughout June to mark “Pride Month”.  The Record quotes Board rep Nick Manning as saying that the Board wants to ensure that “public schools remain a welcoming place for everyone.”

“Welcoming” – and also “safe” – are indeed what schools should be.  Every person in a civil society, including those we disagree with, should be able to conduct his or her life without giving or receiving unkindness or abuse.  But Waterloo Region DSB’s “Pride Month” decision is hypocritical. Which makes it also unkind and abusive.

This is the same school board that decided the Gideons could no longer distribute New Testaments in the schools.  The “Pride Month” flag proclaims a particular value system to all and sundry, including those who find it offensive.  The Gideons, on the other hand, who also have a lawful value system to proclaim, sought to avoid giving offense by distributing their Testaments only to students who, with parental permission, would have requested them.  But for the Waterloo Board, even that wasn’t good enough.

The Board’s unequal treatment of these two special interest groups is flagrant.  The Region’s public schools are not “a welcoming place for everyone” – not, at least, for Christians, unless they keep their mouths shut.

“…it’s small acts like this,” Mr Manning said, “that will transform our community.”  They certainly will.  But it’s clear that the Board does not want truly authentic inclusivity.

Let’s suppose, for example, that Christians in Waterloo Region were to declare a “Jesus Month” to promote virtuous and pious living.  Would the Board fly our flag?  Orwell was right: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

So what’s to be done about it?  In his letter to the Christians in Philippi, Paul sends greetings from the brethren in Rome, significantly including “especially those of Caesar’s household.” Even on the staff of the imperial palace there were some who had become obedient to the Faith.  When Tertullian wrote to the Roman Senate a century and a half later, he noted that Christians had infiltrated every aspect of the life of the Empire: the towns, the country, the marketplace, the army, the courts – “and we have left to you only the temples of your gods.”  Where today are the bold, vocal Christians on our city councils and our school boards?

Pastors:  It’s time to encourage informed and capable Christians to run for public office, and for your congregations to support their candidacies.

Easy reflections from Auschwitz

Easy? Yes, these remarks from Justin Welby are easy because he is making them from a distance – a temporal distance of over 70 years. It is easier to blame our forebears for their sins than to acknowledge our own sin of failing to denounce a horror that is in front of our noses – just because it is a cultural norm.

Between 1940 and 1945 up to 1.5 million people were murdered in Auschwitz – an incomprehensible atrocity. In 2016, 40 million babies were murdered in the womb; around 125,000 per day, an atrocity so far outside the safe space of liberal pseudo-thought that it is beyond the ability of churchmen like Welby to even acknowledge, let alone denounce. Perhaps, one day, just as the residents of Dachau were made to view the horrors on their doorstep, crypto-liberals like Welby will be compelled to acknowledge the holocaust that is too close for comfort.

In the meantime, we will have to put up with some easy reflections:

This was my third visit to Auschwitz / Birkenau, and each time has been even more appalling. In early January the cold is penetrating, between nine and 14 degrees below centigrade. We were fully equipped with snow boots, layers of clothing, hats, gloves, scarves. . . yet it worked through layer after layer until we were cold to the core. The prisoners wore the equivalent of pyjamas and clogs. We were out in that cold for five hours in the day. They would be out for 12 hours. We were fed. They were starved.

There are so many statistics about Auschwitz / Birkenau, but it defies description. Eighty-five per cent of prisoners died. Many in just days of arriving. Then there was the industrialised killing of the gas chambers. The vulnerable, the disabled, marginalised minorities, and above all the Jews: children, adults and the elderly, taken from a train to their deaths in as little as 30 minutes. Accounts were kept, profits were sought. No one can deny the reality of what happened. There is simply far, far, far too much evidence.

Abortion, a Canadian disgrace

Canada is one of the few countries in the world that has no law to protect the unborn. A baby can be killed in its mother’s womb at any age for any reason, including sex selection, convenience and post-conception contraception.

100,000 Canadian babies are burned, dismembered, disembowelled, decapitated and flushed from their mother’s womb every year. People get upset about seeing photographs of this atrocity and they get upset about a Kurdish boy drowned on a beach; the one thing that doesn’t upset Canadians is the stench of industrial scale death that lurks just beneath our renowned veneer of civility, a veneer that, considering what it conceals, is as disgusting as it is hypocritical.

Wake up, Canada and force your politicians to act.

Justin Trudeau’s attempt to play wedge politics with the abortion issue fell flat at last week’s French language debate. This must have been disappointing for him as his position has been clear for some time: he supports every form of abortion — including for the sole purpose of terminating the lives of girl babies simply because they are female — at every stage of pregnancy. He even issued an edict stating that anyone who questioned the status quo was not welcome in the Liberal party.

The de facto position of Thomas Mulcair and Stephen Harper is, in principle, no different. When questioned directly by Trudeau last Friday, Harper said the same as he has been saying for years, “My position for 10 years has been I don’t intend to re-open this debate.”

As yet, all three leaders have a realistic shot at making 24 Sussex their home after the Oct. 19 election. And all three continue to treat pre-born children as a political liability.

Harper, Mulcair and Trudeau are without excuse. If elected, it is their duty to enact laws for the benefit of all Canadians. Their complete disregard for the human rights of any children in the womb effectually means that they are complicit in the deaths of 100,000 members of the human family every year.

In effect Stephen Harper, Thomas Mulcair and Justin Trudeau all support sex-selective abortion. They care less about the fact that girls are targeted for abortion much more frequently than boys. Their refusal to act is a sign that they endorse this misogynistic practice in Canada.

All three leaders also support late-term abortion. They show no regard for the reality that every year thousands of babies lose their lives by being aborted in the latter stages of pregnancy, after the stage when children of the same age are born, survive outside of the womb, and live productive lives as Canadian citizens.

Linda Gibbons jailed again

At 11:02 Wednesday morning, Linda Gibbons sat uncomfortably, hands cuffed behind her back, in the rear seat of a Toronto Police squad car.

She was taken first to 53 Division, transferred to 55 Division where all women are held overnight pending their first court appearance, and is expected to be paraded for a show-cause hearing Thursday morning.

She is an unrepentant recidivist, a hopeless repeat offender.

She is a serious criminal.

Gibbons doesn’t count her arrests, but probably she’s been in the back seat of squad cars a couple of dozen times in the past two decades — and that’s including the five years she took off to care for her dying father.

She has spent an astonishing total of 10 years and seven months behind bars.

I’ve written about people convicted of gun offences, serious drug offences, sex assault, drunk driving, child abuse and manslaughter who have done significantly less time.

Gibbons’ crime is worse.

She’s a veteran pro-life protester outside Toronto abortion clinics. She’s on the wrong side (the pro-life side) of the wrong issue (abortion) and yet she persists in trying to make her voice heard.

Before Linda Gibbons arrives at the abortion clinic, she knows she will be arrested yet she keeps doing it. I’m not sure it makes much difference to the blatantly evil absence of abortion restrictions in Canada, but it’s hard not to admire her tenacity.

Why does she keep doing it? Perhaps, to paraphrase Henry David Thoreau’s observation, because under a government which murders any unjustly, the true place for a just man is a prison.
