The Diocese of Huron is demolishing St. George’s in Windsor because the congregation has withered and the diocese doesn’t need the building. Of course, when St. Aidan’s congregation – also in Windsor – joined ANiC, the diocese took them to court because they really needed the property – rather like my dog: if I pick up a stick, he must have it, only to lose interest when I drop it.
From here:
Historic St. George’s Church and Hall, facing likely demolition, will be put up for sale in a last-ditch effort to save it.
But officials at the Anglican Church’s Diocese of Huron — which owns the Walkerville property, with an asking price of $250,000 — aren’t holding their breath.
“We’re going to proceed with demolition but because the city really would like to see if we can sell it first, we’re going to test it on the market for a couple of months,” Paul Rathbone, secretary-treasurer for the Diocese of Huron, said Wednesday. “But we’re not going to hold it on the market long at all.
Sorry to hear that — I used to deacon the Mass there, back in the days of Ken Jaggs.
O.K. folks……………here’s the deal. The Diocese of Urine is in the real estate business.
Yuup, I know it comes as a surprise but there you have it.
As one of two co-warden’s responsible for the former St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Brantford…………good thing I was paying attention to the Holy Spirit. It enabled me to make a phone call to All Saints Orthodox Church, Hamilton and “wallah” a buyer for the soon to be minted Saint George Orthodox Church, Brantford.
All this with no help from the mandarin’s at church house………….I might add. Nope….’nadda’, bupkis……….all they wanted was the moola from the sale. Not that there is anything wrong with that……………….
The anglo catholic expression within Huron is all but over. And frankly, so is the Diocese.
Any questions……………….?
With an apostate primate accompanied by apostate so-called bishops the ACoC is and perhaps has fallen so far into the pit of heresy there is no possibility of recovery unless these apostates publicly repent and return properties to genuine Christians that have supported them for years. It is not in any way surprising to see the speed at which the ACoC is dying since they are no longer following our Lord and Saviour but seem determined to worship their own “god” – the god of political expediency.
Again correct Frank. The church without gravity…………just keeps on a fallin’.
$250,000- for this cute Church??-you can’t get together and buy it?- thats cheap-and would present a chance to remain relative in the community-without the ACoC sticking their noses in it anymore>…..???
Glen………….I bet someone could buy the place, sink some serious coin in it and “Bob’s Your Uncle”. And one would never have to worry about church house getting involved….the phone never gets answered anyway. Trust me…….I know something about the process.
