Anglican Primate Linda Nicholls has the following admonition to those of her flock worried about the prospect of contracting the COVID-19 virus: whatever you do, don’t call it the Wuhan virus. That would be racist, the only sin left in the Anglican Church of Canada.
We urge our member churches to reflect a compassionate, peace-seeking response to COVID-19 by:
….. Actively repudiating the racism and xenophobia that has shaped certain reactions to COVID-19;
So, wash your hands and watch you mouth.
Even worse, if you really slip up and call it the Chinese virus, your bigotry will probably invite heavenly retribution; just writing that had me sneezing faster than I could say “xenophobia”.
I checked the source of the phrasing “Actively repudiating the racism and xenophobia that has shaped certain reactions to COVID-19”. It is from the Canadian Council of Churches and only relayed by Nicholls. Regardless, the “certain reactions” language part, in that it indulges the reader to perform eisegesis re what the writer may have actually been thinking, is a perfect example of what Wikipedia criticises and marks up as “weasel words”, and in this case would annotate “what reactions ? by whom ?”
Knowing where a virus originates is “ground zero” of the science. Expressing where it originated is nothing more than a fact. So, who’s “anti-science”?
The Canadian Council of Churches slavishly adheres to the “other gospel” of The World Council of Churches: Marxist Liberation Theology and its Cultural Marxism now awash in the fallen and falling anti-Scriptural Churches; their apostasy marking the first sign that our LORD Jesus Christ gives in his Olivet Prophecy, this to be followed with other “birth pangs” + Matthew ch. 24.
Rather than naming the enemy as Sir Winston Churchill did, and Sir Neville Chamberlain did not, and as also now named by The President of United States at his Friday, March 13, 2020, White House press conference thus declaring a National Emergency, they remain silently complicit in the unprecedented brutal and bloody persecution of Christians, as well as other minorities, in Communist China, as reported by ‘China Aid’, ‘Lifesite News’, and ‘Fox News’; and now complicit in their silence in the worst attack on Western Civilization in recorded history: the bio-weapon of choice as once stated by former CCP Premier Deng Xiaopeng.

Based on the information available, it is a statement of fact to observe that COVID-19 originated in China and was transmitted out to the world by both Chinese nationals and foreigners travelling from that country.
That is neither racism nor xenophobia but simply the reality.
