Christopher Hitchens, God hater, died of complications from oesophageal cancer last night; he is the first of the atheist Four Horsemen to meet his maker.
God’s mercy is greater than Hitchens’ hate: may Hitchens at last be willing to receive it.

Amen
Hitchens was one of the great wordsmiths of our generation. It aiways saddened me that he couldn’t accept God. I wonder what he’s saying now that he has met Him.
I’ll truly miss Hitch.
Yes, he was a brilliant writer and I will miss him, too.
There is a touching in memoriam by his brother, Peter here,
It seems strangly innapropriate to have a memorial for someone who so ardently insisted that there was nothing after life. If anyone does “respect” this person than it seems only fitting that we should do nothing now that he is dead.
Particularly for one who was notorious for spitting on the graves of the barely dead.
But, while we reject what he chose to be, let us treat him better than he treated everyone else. Which shouldn’t be hard.
