I expect all the perverts laughed at his eagerness.
Of course he did. And in other news… the sun rose in the east this morning.
Does this “oneness with all things” include any empathy with the pain of traditional Anglicans? (Including those who have left?)
Regarding the word “pride” (and its derivatives, such as in “Proud Anglicans” on the sash worn by the bishop), I am, of course, aware that its usage, and hence intended meaning, spans a spectrum. Nevertheless, it is worth considering to what extent the original theological meaning (alternatives: hubris, superbia), sometimes expressed as being the root of all evil (particularly re the Fall of Satan, and Original Sin), describes at least a
component of that which people refer to as pride in an intended positive sense. It takes quite an effort to ensure that the feeling of what is called pride, say in an accomplishment of one’s child, i.e. that which is worthy of praise, is not infected to some extent by the deadly sin known as Pride. I am not sure what was in the minds of those with a homosexualist agenda (meaning primarily the promotion of the idea of moral parity with traditional heterosexual precepts), but surely it must have occurred to some of them with some theological background that the appropriation of the word “Pride” could be problematic. [ There is a natural suspicion that it might have been deliberate. Ask a few young people what the word means. Hand-wave Orwell/Newspeak here. ] Were I to be graced with a conversation with Bishop Asbil on the import of, say, Proverbs 16:18, to what he endorses, I doubt it would be anymore enlightening than that to the narrator in C.S. Lewis The Great Divorce re his talk with the apostate bishop there. Possibly Michael Coren might produce something of more substance, but not by much.
This should not be surprising to anyone. Our current apostate primate and his apostate colleagues would have gladly joined him. This clearly points out the primary weakness in the Anglican Communion which is that the appointment of the ABC is subject to the civil government and we have clearly noted that for at least the current ABC and his predecessor fell down and worshipped the civil government rather that take a firm stand for the Gospel. At this rate any branch of Anglicanism associated with the ABC will die but the true orthodox Anglicans will continue even if our name changes. You cannot worship Satan with one knee and claim to worship our Lord and Saviour with the other.
Wondering if Mr. Asbil will participate in the March of Life? Frankly I will be extremely surprised if he does.
Since he recently attended and gave his tacit approval to the euthanising of a couple, it seems unlikely.
