Since Anglican churches still maintain a loose connection to Christianity, wishing holiness on a competing religion’s ritual seems a little odd. Anglicans normally reserve the attribute of holiness for gay marriages.
Much like watery Anglicanism, ISIS wishes you a holy Ramadan, too; except, if your children don’t comply, they will be crucified. ISIS, as far as I am aware, has yet to wish anyone a Merry Christmas.
It’s all part of the notion “other faiths are also legitimate”. Problem is that all other so called faiths deny the divinity of Jesus Christ. So rather than wishing any a “holy Ramadan” we Christians should be inviting everyone, including muslims, to the Christian Faith and to get to know Jesus Christ.
I’d be a bit more confident about his Christian credentials if I knew for a fact that the minister in charge was not into Halal food, including Vegemite.
