Atheists are continuing their crusade to expunge God from public life:
From here:
An atheist group is going to court to protest the presence of a six-foot tall statue of Jesus Christ on federal land, erected as a memorial for soldiers who died in World War II.
The lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin based Freedom From Religion Foundation, seeking to remove the religious memorial from a Montana ski resort, has been given a green light by U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen to move forward to trial.
What is still permitted is the displaying of images that are likely to offend Christians. This crucified Obama painting is on display at Bunker Hill Community College – partially funded by the government – and no-one has complained:
The US is its own specific planet, but it’s overwhelmingly religious, surely? Driving around in the US, you can’t go five hundred metres without seeing a church or a religious message on a billboard. The public/private line becomes easily blurred in such a context. US politicians invoke God in public at a rate that would be career-destroying in Canada.
They should change their name to the, “Freedom From History Foundation.” That statue is representative of a part of their history, and to attempt to rewrite history and purge every, “objectionable” facet of it is both arrrogant and potentially disastrous. It is to remove the foundations of their nation and culture.
Or as Gore Vidal put it, the United States of Amnesia. The crucified O manages to be as banal as it is ugly.
Atheists are more obsessed with Christianity than most Christians are. They have to fill that void in their lives with active attacks.
Why don’t they man up and try to take on the big statue in Rio de Janeiro or, what the heck, sue the Vatican.
The image of a crucified Obama is a bit indicative of the cult that has engulfed so many people. Four years ago the news coverage of his election would have had some believe that he was the Second Coming.
However there is one thing wrong with the image. He is wearing a red tie. In the USA red is the colour of the Republicans, and blue is the colour of the Democrats.
