In an interview, the new bishop of the Diocese of BC, Logan McMenamie, mentions that the diocese is suffering from negativity and creeping congregationalism. Although the latter sounds a little like a skin disease, it is actually an understandable response to the diocese taking parish buildings from congregations that paid for and maintained them and selling them for its own gain.
From here (page 5):
We will continue to have some challenges to face but I feel they can be addressed. Some of the things the clergy talked about were lone ranger parishes, creeping congregationalism and negativity. I believe we can turn this around in a positive way and see these as opportunities for growth.
“Lone Ranger Parishes?”
Hi Ho Jesus away!
“growth”: the wages of sin, unless repented and turned from, is just more sin-
Satan’s GNP, if you would.
I’ve always been very fond of the old Congregationalist buildings in the United Church. Their curved seating in the sanctuary is very much at odds with the regimented rows found in most catholic denominations.
I pray that Christianity may blossom in those Congregationalist enclaves in B.C. that hold themselves at arm’s length from their diocese’s apostasy.
I am not surprised in any way by the growth of Congregationalism within the ACoC as the ACoC has abandoned any claim to be Christian and continues under the apostate leadership of Fred Hiltz and other so-called bishops – all of whom no longer worship our Lord and Saviour but what is deceptively called “political correctness” thus allowing society to “witness” to the church rather than the church providing witness to society. All apostate clergy including the Primate and those who follow in his footsteps should be defrocked.
Defrocked would be the lightest of penalties.
Infinitely more abhorrent is The LORD’s promised charge, as The Sola Head and King of His Church, to judge each shepherd for “handling The WORD of GOD deceitfully”*, thereby leading His sheep at best astray, at worst down the perilous precipice of Biblical-defined sin into hell itself.
+ II Corinthians chs. 4 (* v.2) & 5, 6, 7 + Ezekiel ch.18
– the blood of souls to be on all such culpable hands of which no amount of “sorrow of the world” (7:10) can or will remove. Out, politically correct spot! Past time for “lament, ye Priests: howl, ye Ministers of the Altar: come lie all night in sackcloth, ye Ministers of my GOD…” + Joel, in toto.
Interesting that both descriptors used by the bishop (“creeping congregationalism” and “Lone Ranger parishes”) arose from unidentified clerics within the diocese when identifying diocesan strengths and weaknesses in advance of the electoral synod and were subsequently picked up by the bishop after his election. Wasn’t able to tell if they were meant to be derogatory or not.
Apostasy you say? I find your views fascinating and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
