In what can only be understood as a latent death wish, the Church of England employs vicars who are atheists, don’t believe God is personal, don’t believe God can be known and don’t believe Jesus is the only way to the Father.
At the same time, the church, obstinately blind to the obvious, is bewildered by the dramatic decline in Sunday attendance: a recent report states, ‘there is no single recipe for growth; there are no simple solutions to decline.’
From here:
One in 50 Anglican clergy in the UK believes God is merely a human construct, according to a new survey today.
Just eight in ten believe there is a personal God and a further three in 100 believe there is some spirit or life force.
And in spite of two millennia of Church doctrine based on determining the mind of God through the Scriptures, nearly one in ten believes: “No-one can know what God is like.”
The YouGov survey of more than 1,500 Anglican clergy commissioned by the Westminster Faith Debates for the current series on the future of the Church of England shows growing acceptance for other faiths, with more than four in ten believing that while Christianity is the “best path” to God, other religions may offer paths as well.
I wish someone would run a similar survey for the Anglican Church of Canada.
It would indeed be an education if such a survey were done within the ACoC. However, I believe many would not admit they do not believe as they are more concerned over their wages and pensions. The fact that most clergy are willingly following the teaching of their apostate bishops clearly shows where their priorities are. Even the primate clearly does not believe and that is proven by his support for the apostate bishops in seizing properties from orthodox Christians and forcing them out of their buildings.
Never mind the grinning monkeys … look for the organ grinder. These creatures are all state appointees.
I suspect that if the same or similar survey were done for the AcoC that the results would just as bad if not worse.
I used to attend an AcoC Parish where the priest preached in a sermon that other faiths were legitimate and that a person does not have to be a Christian to get into heaven. No wonder that social club is dying.
Funny isn’t it?
No, it is definitely not funny but I understand what you mean. It is actually a tragedy as many in the pews are led away from the truth due to the fact that many consider the words from the clergy above reproach.
Atheist vicars are not rooted in the truth, their lives are based on lies and deceit. Since they have no love for God, they do not rejoice with the truth and instead delight in evil.
I find the very concept of an atheist priest to be an oxymoron. It reeks of dishonesty and a complete lack of integrity. Upon Ordination vows are given. Sacred and solemn vows. Yet either these vows were lies when given or have become lies when the “priest” lost his faith yet continued to “keep his job”. It is the duty and responsibility of the Bishops to weed out these false priests.
I fully agree but the tragedy is that many so-called bishops within the ACoC including gthe Primate no longer believe and are focused on keeping their jobs and their pensions. They no longer accept the authority of Scripture or the uniqueness of Jesus Christ.
What a unhelpful survey. What is meant by God and what is meant by believe?
