Surprised about lack of comments, at least publically. I’ve been in US without internet for six weeks and this was news. Glad to see you are still here. So since the Bishop did not recover his expenses (and has no further recourse?) does this fall on the Church or the Bishop personally to make up the shortfall?

That’s a good question. The other possibility is that Bird’s lawyer took the case on contingency which means he would receive a cut of the takings, whatever they end up being (in this case, 3/4 of the “costs”).
