St. Joe’s supper table is a ministry to the urban poor and homeless. What are they doing using it for a sort of “reception”? That is completely inappropriate.
It would be inappropriate no matter who they were. People donate to that ministry thinking they are feeding people who might otherwise go hungry, after all.
Kate, you are misunderstanding the wording. The GCCA group has met in the past in the building where the Supper Table is located, but they have always met in another part of the building and they have always brought their own snacks when they had snacks. There is no way the group would be consuming donated food.
Meals are only served at St. Joe’s from Monday to Friday from 5:00 to 6:15 and this event takes place on a Sunday at 2 pm, so the “Supper Table” only indicates the location.

There most certainly is a place for everyone at Christ’s Table. And his message of “give up your sinful ways and follow me” is also for everyone.
