Christians booted out of Dearborn Arab Festival

While many of us are too nervous to talk to our neighbours about Christ, for Acts 17 Apologetics Ministries that’s too easy: they like to evangelise Muslims.

This extraordinary video shows what happens when they went to the Dearborn Arab Festival to ask some questions; imagine what might have happened if they were actually evangelising:

How to upset someone with a greeting

Some of us have to work to offend; for others it’s as easy as a brief “hello”:

When the landlady of my Toronto apartment building said an outraged neighbour had filed a complaint about me over an apparently inappropriate hallway interaction with his wife, my mind raced through the countless conversations I’ve had with fellow tenants, none of which seemed a possible source of offence.

It turns out, it wasn’t a salacious transaction that had caused the complaint, but rather a neighbourly and — to me — entirely forgettable greeting, little more than a brief “good morning” as I passed my neighbours on the way to work.

Still, it was enough of an affront for the man — once a doctor somewhere in the Middle East, my landlady clarified — to feel I had broken a cultural taboo. The incident started an awkward feud which has involved warnings not to repeat my indiscretion and one face-to-face shouting match, which included allusions to my impending death.

I expect the battle will wage on, as we appear to be stuck at an impasse.

His Muslim upbringing has ingrained in him a sense of entitlement to demand I not speak directly to his wife; and my prairie upbringing has ingrained in me a duty to strive for polite cohesion with my neighbours.

This is a rather disgusting example of a person being treated like a piece of property – something that does not belong in a civilised nation.

Domestic violence seminar, Saudi style

The civilised world would expect a seminar on domestic violence to condemn it in all circumstances and explore ways that it can be avoided. Not so in Saudi Arabia, where men are encouraged to slap their wives for overspending on the black sheets their husbands force them to wear on their heads.

Just so we’re clear, a Saudi domestic violence seminar instructs men on when to be violent.

From here:

A Saudi judge said it is okay for a man to slap his wife for lavish spending at a seminar on domestic violence, according to a report from Agence France-Presse.

Jeddah judge Hamad al-Razine told the group a husband was justified in smacking his wife, using overspending on a high-end abaya, the black shroud Saudi women must wear in public, as an example, according to AFP.

“If a person gives 1,200 riyals (320 dollars) to his wife and she spends 900 riyals (240 dollars) to purchase an abaya from a brand shop, and if her husband slaps her on the face as a reaction to her action, she deserves that punishment,” Razine said, AFP reported.

The seminar was on the role of authorities in preventing domestic violence that was attended by activists and officials, including members of the National Family Safety Program.

While the judge recognized the country’s domestic violence problem, he said some of the blame must lie with the wives.

“Nobody puts even a fraction of the blame on them,” Razine said, AFP reported.

An 11 year old suicide bomber

The product of religious education in a Pakistan madrassa:

A would-be suicide bomber aged 11 has been arrested alongside Taliban fighters.Add an Image

Known only as Abdullah, the youngster was caught crossing the mountains from Pakistan’s tribal region into Afghanistan wearing a jacket packed with explosives.

Police say he is the youngest terror recruit they have ever come across. Abdullah has also become Afghanistan’s youngest prisoner but he is still being held at a top security prison in the capital, Kabul.

Originally from Peshawar in Pakistan, Abudullah was training to be a suicide bomber and had learned the principles of jihad – holy war – at the religious school in Pakistan where he was taught.

Mr Neely said Abdullah’s days were spent reading the Koran and his evenings were taken up learning how to load weapons and how foreigners came to Muslim lands to kill them.

Abdullah’s younger brother Amin, 10, is also a student at the same school.

It is not yet clear what authorities will do with the boy but it is likely he will be returned back to his religious school.

That last sentence is rather startling.

Anjem Choudary and donkeys

Occasionally, a sufficiently serious religious news item appears that I find it necessary to eschew irony in order to assess, in a serious and sober way, the exigent theological quodlibet.Add an Image

Today, we are looking at the tendency of man, in this post-Christian era, to be attracted to donkeys. It may not have occurred to you, but it has occurred to the burrophobic, Anjem Choudary:

He said: ‘If a man likes another man, it can happen, but if you go on to fulfil your desire, if it is proved, then there is a punishment to follow. You don’t stone to death unless there are four eyewitnesses. It is a very stringent procedure.

‘There are some people who are attracted to donkeys but that does not mean it is right.’

Anjem Choudary advocates stoning homosexuals caught in the act – but only if they happen to be observed in flagrante by four people; personally, I would simply make the coupling paramours pay for psychiatric counselling for the onlookers to help them cope with the trauma.

What is missing from all this, is the penalty for the donkey lovers.

How much does it cost to be Politically Correct?

In the case of a head teacher in Woking UK, it cost taxpayers £400,000 to compensate her for the fact that the local education authority allowed a couple of obdurate Muslims to bully her into obsequious tolerance.

But she fought back:Add an Image

A head teacher whose health and career were ruined by false accusations of racism and religious discrimination at a primary school dominated by Muslims has won £400,000 in damages.

Erica Connor was forced into early retirement through stress after governors at New Monument School in Woking turned her into a scapegoat by claiming she was Islamophobic.

But the local education authority failed to help her as its “excessively tolerant” officers were more worried about complaints to the race equality watchdog than her suffering.

The court heard that in 1998 Mrs Connor took over the school – where up to 85 per cent of pupils were Muslim and 90 per cent spoke English as a second language – and test results improved “very considerably” for the first few years.

However in 2003 two new members – Paul Martin, a parent governor, and Mumtaz Saleem, a nominee of the local education authority – joined its governing body and tried to take it over.

The judge, Mr John Leighton-Williams, QC, said: “I am satisfied that they sought to monopolise governors body meetings with a view to imposing their own agenda and were prepared to do so regardless of the interests of the school and anyone who resisted that agenda.”

It’s easy to imagine the reaction that similar tactics by two Christians on the governing body would have provoked.

Anglicans win Demented Priest Award

The informative Muslims Against Sharia site has a variety of awards it bestows upon deserving contenders. One is the Demented Priest Award; Anglicans will be proud to know that two of their own are the latest recipients of this prestigious accolade.

Rowan Williams for his groundbreaking work on explaining to Britons why Sharia law is inevitable in the land of the Crusaders and Katherine Jefferts-Schori for her tireless support of Islamofascism.

The only disappointment here is the sad lack of recognition for the efforts of Canadian Fred Hiltz;  never mind Fred, with a bit of work and a lot of concentration, I’m sure you will do better next time.

Roman Catholics grovelling before the altar of Islam

It’s good to see Roman Catholics competing with Anglicans who, hitherto, have been hogging the Politically Correct pottiness spotlight.

The Archbishop of Birmingham, Vincent Nichols, has defended the use of a Catholic university college chapel for an event marking the birthday of Mohammed. Unbelieveable, I know. But here it is:

In a statement issued today, Thursday 12 March, Peter Jennings, Press Secretary to the Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Birmingham, and the Archdiocese of Birmingham, said: “The chapel at Newman University College, Birmingham, was properly prepared for this event which consisted of two talks and a discussion of an interfaith nature.”

Mr Jennings added: “Christian/Muslin dialogue is an important part of the Catholic Church’s agenda. College authorities were fully aware of what was taking place.”

I am sure that Christian/Muslin dialogue is an invigorating undertaking, but what does allowing Islam use of a room dedicated for Christian worship have to do with dialogue? A necessary part of being a Christian is acknowledging Jesus’ divinity; unsurprisingly, no other religion is willing to do that. Therefore, from a Christian perspective, Islam is mistaken on this and all that logically follows from it.

The fact that the RC Archbishop of Birmingham is allowing a Christian chapel to be used for a celebration of Mohammed’s birthday can only mean that he thinks appeasing Muslims is more important than revealed Christian truth.

When will Muslims invite Christians to celebrate Christmas in a mosque? I think Archbishop Vincent Nichols should ask Anjem Choudary.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll, Muslim style

The Civil Rights Coordinator of CAIR recommends the Muslim Sex Shop among other things:

CAIR-California’s Affad Shaikh is a rebel Islamist. While he performs the normal extremist activities, like obsess over Israel, rail against American troops, and defend militant Islamic groups overseas, he also does many things that could be considered unbecoming of a CAIR leader, at least by CAIR’s disjointed standards of conduct. Yet the group still keeps him on board.

On October 24, 2008, Shaikh wrote of his fondness of a blog which goes by the name Muslim Sex Shop. On his own blog, he stated, “Here I was cooking Macaroni [sic] Bashamel, for a friend, who wanted to get some of my good grubbing, when low and behold someone out in the cyber world sent over a link to the ‘Muslim Sex Shop.’  This American Muslim highly recommends that you visit it.”

And this:

On February 3, 2009, Shaikh discussed the possibility of legalizing prostitution and pot. He wrote, “Thinking creatively might for some mean legalizing some sin taxes – like Nevada, our brothel oriented neighbor – and even things like marijuana. If it works lets take a look at it seriously…”

The Muslim Sex Shop eloquently suggests, Now That Ramadan Is Over, You Can Do It In The Daytime and I expect Affad Shaikh does. Of course, when he has sex and gets stoned, it is a little different from the 13 year-old girl who was stoned because she was raped in Somalia, an Islamist hell masquerading as a country.
