Franklin Graham is going to Iceland not to talk about gay marriage but to preach a “message of God’s hope and unconditional love for all people”, and “to renew, encourage and strengthen the people of Iceland through the gospel of Jesus Christ.” The Festival of Hope “is open to everyone and is about the good news that unites us through Jesus.”
One might be forgiven for falling into the trap of thinking that a festival intended to save souls would be welcomed by a Christian bishop, even a bishop of the Evangelical – never was a word less applicable – Lutheran Church of Iceland. Not so!
The Rt. Rev. Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir doesn’t want anyone spreading God’s unconditional love in Iceland unless they also promote homosexual marriage.
Once again, the liberal church’s obsession with the ecclesiastical legitimisation of gay sex overrides every other consideration.
From here:
The Bishop of Iceland the Rt. Rev. Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir, has apologized to the island’s gay community for the participation of the Church of Iceland in next month’s Festival of Hope meeting in Reykjavík due to the presence of U.S. evangelist and missionary Franklin Graham.
Anna Pála Sverrisdóttir, chair of Samtökin 78, an Icelandic gay activist organization told the news website Ruv.is she was angered by the state Lutheran church’s participation in the Christian rally as Graham opposes gay marriage.
Another selfish generation member who spent her youth on drink, and dope, and fornicating, appointed by the state to a post she is multiply unfit to hold? Wouldn’t be at all surprised.
We are blessed that the so-called Rt. Rev Agnes cannot reproduce in the lifestyle she has chosen. We shall be done with her kind in a few years.
Why, because new gay people aren’t born every day?
Also, on what planet are homosexuals incapable of having children?
Hello Vincent,
If I may offer this (a bit tongue in cheek)…
From what I remember of my high school health classes (admittedly a very long time ago) it is simply not possible for two men to procreate with each other. Neither is it possible to for two women to procreate with each other.
Kind regards,
AMP
Many gay people have children before coming out. Many have children via artificial insemination.
But Vincent, nothing in what you say changes the fact the all children are born of both a father and a mother, including those that are procreated via artificial insemination. No child was ever born of two mothers nor two fathers. It is simply not possible.
What has that to do with anything? Net result is, in the real world, gay people have children.
It has everything to do with it. Children need a father and a mother. Not two fathers, and not two mothers. This is something the Church has always understood. But those in secular society that think there is no difference between the sexes cannot understand nor accept.
That’s not what the claim was. The claim was, gay people can’t have kids. In the real world, where you and I both live, they do. Your moral censure — or indeed my own moral acceptance — hardly alters that.
The argument is tending to the ridiculous. If only the words of God could be expunged and His Holy will blotted out, but it cannot be. “27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Gen 1:27-28) Two men cannot produce a baby (duh!) and neither can two women. God created the two sexes for procreation and that was the first commandment He gave to man. No, poor Vincent, gays cannot HAVE children if they are gay through and through. If a child is born to one professing a defiance to the commandments of God by claiming to be homosexual, that baby came as a result of a heterosexual union – not a homosexual one. Perhaps you were asleep when your father talked to you of the birds and bees. God’s plan and will cannot be thwarted by any amount of misinformation and faithless indoctrination. AMP has it right.
Vincent,
You seem to be deliberately missing my point. And the facts of life are such that two gay men simply cannot have children. Neither can two gay women. They can obtain children with the help and co-operation of another person, but on there own they just simply cannot procreate.
Yes, indeed, new gay people are perhaps born with that inclination every day in the same way that child predators, murderers, and thieves are born every day. Just having a desire to sin does not justify it.
Well, I know which ones of those categories scare me the most. Thank you for this measured response.
It pains me to say it, but the way I am feeling right now…
The sooner these lost churches die off and stop misleading people the better.
I must agree fully with this last comment. They are doing severe damage to the Church and faith.
I see a stadium or arena filled with anywhere between 10,000 and 50,000 people, coming to hear a Christian minister speak a Biblical message, while a mainstream, liberal church cannot get enough people in its doors to pay for its building’s maintenance. Hello….
I’m not missing your point. It’s just that it’s not a very useful point. People are never _anything_ through and through, that’s a fairly basic fact of the human condition. People are complicated.
The reality on the ground is that gay people have children. How these children are born is irrelevant: these children exist, and they have gay parents. No amount of being really really convinced of God’s disapproval makes these people disappear.
The biological argument is not very solid in any case: the only reason I can read your post is because I wear glasses, which is clearly using artificial means to remedy a specific problem in my own body. Artificial insemination is analogous to this, and can be used by heterosexual as well as homosexual couples. Straight couples who, for one reason or another, cannot have kids, do use the technique. Do you object to that? An infertile straight couple can’t have children because of basic biology, exactly like a gay couple.
Nonsense. Two males or two females cannot reproduce. God did not intend it, and you cannot change that fact.
No one is suggesting otherwise. You still have to deal with gay people who have children.
Make sure you tell the child of a gay person that “two males or two females cannot reproduce” the next time you meet one — if you can be that rude outside of the internet. Let me know how that works out for you.
Well, Vince, I am that ‘rude’ as to inform of sin of any who advocate it – whether adulterers, fornicators, thieves, or homosexuals. If God has judged the practice an abomination, I will agree with Him.
Gov. Christi just signed away his political hopes for 2016: Unfortunately for him, he may have just signed away any chance of that.
Last week, Christie signed A3371, a draconian piece of legislation that bars licensed therapists from helping children overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, behavior, or identity. This law bans help for minors, even when – as is so often the case – those same-sex attractions arise from childhood sexual abuse by the likes of a Jerry Sandusky.
This law will prohibit minors and their parents from receiving counseling they desire and will force counselors to violate ethical codes because they will not be able to help clients reach their own counseling goals. This law would enslave children – whether abused or not – to a subjectively determined sexual identity that they reject.
The connection between homosexual abuse and “gay identity” is undeniable. Consider this: Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found that homosexual men are “at least three times more likely to report CSA (childhood sexual abuse)” than heterosexual men.
Moreover, the Archives of Sexual Behavior – no bastion of conservatism – determined in a 2001 study that nearly half of all gay-identified men were molested by a homosexual pedophile: “46 percent of homosexual men and 22 percent of homosexual women reported having been molested by a person of the same gender. This contrasts to only 7 percent of heterosexual men and 1 percent of heterosexual women reporting having been molested by a person of the same gender” noted the study.
Anytime you want to stop addressing me as “Vince” will be all right by me.
I can also go on the internet and find stuff. I’ll even link to it, and it’s not from 12 years ago:

Referring to you by your first name seemed the most acceptable of all common terms that come to mind. However, I shall not address you at all in future. I have more serious and reasonable personalities to address.Goodbye.
Vince is not my first name. Vincent is.
Than you have my apology for offending in name. of course, Vincent is a good name and one to be cherished.
Vincent seems to be confused. He thinks that raising children, or adopting children, is the same as procreating children. Which of course it is not.
There is no disputing the fact that in our society there are same sex couples caring for and raising children. And frankly I feel very sorry for these children, for they are being denied the love of either a mother (in case of homosexual men raising them) or the love of a father (as is the situation of homosexual women raising them), which these children not deserve but need.
No child needs two dads, and no child needs tow moms. Every child needs and deserves both a mother and a father.
You have summarized the situation well, AMP (if I may be so call you).
And as long as you don’t refer to me by my Sergeant’s favorite, Hey You!
Well, raising kids is the important bit. Because you’re dealing with actual kids. Debates about procreation, and sloganeering that homosexuals can’t procreate, is just doing the internet echo chamber thing. Which is fun enough, but doesn’t actually help any real kids.
Cool. At this point, I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on the rest of the conversation. 🙂
