Primate Linda Nicholls has written to Canada’s Minister of Justice to voice her support for Bill C-6, a bill which would criminalise conversion therapy.
If passed, a counsellor who agrees to help someone resist or be free of unwanted same-sex attraction would be committing a criminal act. A person who experiences same-sex attraction should have no choice but to accept his unwanted inclinations. Let me repeat: no choice. The reason for this, the Primate tells us, is because to allow the person a choice would be an affront to his dignity, even abusive.
At the same time, the Primate has, in her multi-letter rainbow spectrum, a letter “T” secreted between the letters “B” and “Q”. “T” stands for “Transgender”, a person who chooses to assert that his sex differs from the category imposed on him by his chromosomes. We are all expected to go along with this choice, this fantasy: to do otherwise would be an affront to his dignity and possibly a criminal act. The Primate fully supports, welcomes, applauds and embraces this choice.

I am writing on behalf of the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) to express support for Bill C-6 to ban conversion therapy in Canada.
Our faith tradition affirms the dignity of all persons, including those persons across the LGBTQ2SIA+ spectrum. We recognize that members of the LGBTQ2SIA+ communities continue to disproportionately experience marginalization, family estrangement, and exclusion in a predominantly heterosexual and gender-binary culture, negating this dignity which we know God to have given to all. Conversion therapy seeks to change core elements of individuals by attempting to change their sexual orientation or gender identity. The ACC does not support this dangerous and abusive practice.
In 2010 the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada passed a resolution calling on the church at all levels to “embrace the outcast and stand against the abuse and torment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons.” It is in the spirit of this resolution that today we stand against the harmful practice of conversion therapy for LGBTQ2SIA+ persons in Canada. Such practices are hostile to a person’s identity and an affront to their dignity.
I recognize the proposed Bill C-6 as an important step in protecting Canadians from the damaging effects of conversion therapy and strongly encourage the passing of this important legislation.

I wonder if ir is unlawful to encourage someone who does not experience same sex attraction to experience same sex attraction? I wonder if this kind of conversion therapy is contrary to law. I believe there is a good deal of it on offer!
In its small ‘s’ spirit of the Primate’s ‘Commission of Discovery, Reconciliation and Justice’ missing in the ACC Missive re. Bill-C6 are the letters JWR, as in the last Federal Justice Minister, the first Indigenous one, and a woman, too; summarily dispatched at Christmas “in the moon of winter time”, to be replaced by the current one.
Or does the letter S cover that, as in SNC?
Improving it worse: the Federal ‘Justice’ Minister today (December 3, 2020) advances Bill C-15 re. UN’s Declaration of Indigenous Peoples Rights (2007;2016) not only in face of the voiced opposition of several Indigenous Chiefs and their communities on the grounds that, as framed, will de-constitute Confederation; but also in the face of Bill C-7 which UN the Minister references also has opposed said Bill C-7 as discriminatory against the most vulnerable in society, the disabled. Will Ministers Lametti/Varani et al. separate out the Indigenous as they/et al. give them the thumbs up, or down?

Nicholls believes she falsely has a voice to raise in Canadian politics but 99.99% of people don’t care what she opines. A sad case of misguided theology geared to whoever is congruent with her views. The Anglican church needs to rid itself of all these stupid nonsense thinking bishops and reclaim it’s roots in Catholicism.
Would that the Primate’s anti-Scriptural pronouncements were dismissed as “things indifferent”; on the contrary, her voice as representative of the national Church (ACC) carries sobering weight, as do that of the leaders of all other Canadian Christian Churches*,with the CCP Regime occupying Government Benches in Ottawa; as per Bills C-6, pending Bill C-7, and now via Minister of Truth Gibeault/Goebbels, Bill C-10, itself preparatory to full implementation of CCP Huawei as Canada’s 5G technology; dismissive of Canada’s trusted Allies 5 Eyes warnings. Most disturbing to read the names of Members of The Canadian House of Commons voting against their own Country, across the Dominion.
Recall at age twelve our family going to our Nation’s Capital to attend the flag debate in The House of Commons; our democracy then was in good condition. The extra-Constitutional PMO has eroded Parliamentary democracy and its responsibility to the people. Cabinet Ministers who failed in that responsibility then resigned on principle.
Until the more (conservative? traditional? What is the word I am looking for?) denominations start making their size and influence better known to government, politicians will retain the belief that churches such as the ACoC are somewhat important. It may be that politicians pay lip service to such as the ACoC because they do not have much concern about the possibility of any real political fallout. If, however, an evangelical Christian organization tried to influence government, I think it would likely be loudly criticized as transgressing of the (often misunderstood) concept of church and state and would be widely condemned.
Are Primate Nicholls and the ACoC also against conversion from other religions to Christianity or from agnosticism and atheism to faith in Christ? Evangelism, after all, also “seeks to change core elements of individuals,” a goal which presumably is off-limits.
