The Anglican Church of Canada published the following statistics for 2001:
In 2007 the numbers looked like this:
The “Members on Parish Rolls” number has little meaning since, for example, I am still counted as being a member of the Diocese of Niagara. The more meaningful number, “Confirmed on Parish Rolls” is missing for some dioceses for 2007 so 210,094 is low – probably not that low, though.
The diocese of Nova Scotia has seen a rather startling Average Sunday Attendance decline of 63% in 6 years and the number of Regular Givers in Quebec has declined by 66%.
The 2001 and 2007 numbers for some of the dioceses – Niagara, Fredericton, Calgary, BC [updated] and Saskatchewan – are suspiciously identical, so they are almost certainly inflated for 2007.
Note that the ANiC split occurred in 2008 so the post 2008 figures for the Anglican Church of Canada will be even bleaker.
Don’t forget BC in the identical stats list
Thanks – I’ve added it.
Considering the actions by the Diocese of New Westminster and the Dioceses of Niagara and Huron in either evicting orthodox Christians or even worse legally stealing properties for which they have made no contribution, I cannot see any reasonable person providing any support for building maintenance or mortgages as the apostate leadership will readily grab such properties solely for economic reasons.
I find the identical stats for BC interesting. My former parish basically closed around 2008 or 2009. Unless another new parish started up somewhere on Vancouver Island, their numbers are off. When my old parish closed, about a year after I left, that left about 10-15 donating members with no church.
I just counted and Diocese New Westminster now lists 67 parishes on their website. And 46 listed for the Diocese of British Columbia. If average parish attendance has stayed constant (an unlikely “if”) then that is a 20% decline since 2007. If you include “joint with other churches” for Dio BC (which would probably be correct, because those would show up in their list) then the decline is 23%.
