From the BBC:
Up to a quarter of Iraq’s Christians are reported to be fleeing after Islamic militants seized the minority’s biggest town.
The Islamic State (IS) group captured Qaraqosh in Nineveh province overnight after the withdrawal of Kurdish forces.
IS controls parts of Iraq and Syria and says it has created an Islamic state.
Meanwhile the UN says some of the Yazidi community, another religious minority in the area targeted by IS, have been rescued.
About 50,000 Yazidis are thought to have been trapped in the mountains after fleeing the town of Sinjar.
ISIS says it has created an “Islamic State”. The result is tens of thousands of Christians dying of thirst, a Christian family of eight shot in the face because they would not convert, and Christians beheaded, mutilated, raped, stoned and crucified – just for being Christians.
Is this what an “Islamic State” is supposed to look like? If not, I expect we’ll soon be seeing intervention from the real Islamic States.
I’m not sure what “real Islamic States” you have in mind, or whether you were being cheeky.
I suspect that there is a great deal of sympathy -and even pride- across the Islamic world over ISIS’s spectacular military success. I am also sure there are great concerns over the vicious enforcement of a narrow orthodoxy. Ultimately, though, the pan Arab states will do nothing and hope that the wolf goes to someone else’s door.
Cheeky.
Perhaps Christians were better off under Saddam Hussein.
Perhaps the Kurds weren’t.
Shake hands with the devil and you can’t let go.
Islam, the religion of peace?
Islam is a religion of peace until they are in the majority .
Currently the target of this nightmare are Iraqi Christians but that list will expand if unchecked. A dark shadow is growing ever stronger and sooner or later even the “tolerance for everything and anything except Christianity” relativist crowd on the left must wake up and see this evil for what it is. I pray there is still time to confront it when they do but, sadly, the useful idiots will no doubt have done their best to pave a broad street of welcome in the meantime. I fear the Iraqi victims and the rest of us who profess Christ’s name are on our own as far as they are concerned. I hope I am wrong,
Islam is by its doctrines NOT a religion of peace. All who do not bow down to their Allah or make any negative comments about Mohammed are considered worthy of death and it does not matter how that death is accomplished. The deliberate actions by Hamas against Israel is a clear sign of this. They do not care for their own people as their sole goal is to kill all who do not follow them.
