Prince Charles is in Canada and apparently, some Canadians think he is irrelevant:
Prince Charles arrived in Canada on Monday for a 11-day cross-country visit that comes at a time when many Canadians say the royal family is no longer relevant to them.
I’m not against the monarchy, but try as I might to push the thought from my mind, every time I see Charles I am reminded of this:
Ah you poor man. Modern monarchies are fun. We get the pomp and circumstance and along with it we get all the warts and twitches. How can anyone compare poor defenseless Charles who didn’t ask for the job and had better not bloody quit after getting this far and not been done in. (Mind you I think they came pretty close with that avalanche). Would you seriously want some political hack like Obama or Bush being head of state? It’s bad enough we have to put up with the present GG a political appointee. Never mind that an election to attain some sort of head of state would cost a fortune every few years. No go out and cheer our blundering prince, he is a damn sight better than anything else you could think up. Unless you think I could do the job? All hail King Obit.
Charles is our future head of church. We should pay attention to what he does. He attended church at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria this morning, with the proviso that he does not take communion with the public. So it was a morning prayer service I believe. Probably the only time the cathedral has been full except for concerts recently.
But, I would be upset if there had been communion and he had taken communion from the people who have dealt so badly with those who have joined ANiC.
