One of the side benefits of attending a conference is the occasional itinerant tidbit that drifts innocently within earshot.
It appears that the pressing need the Diocese of Niagara has for the 4 ANiC parish buildings – ostensibly to house the rampant hordes clamouring to attend a DoN service – isn’t quite so pressing after all. The congregation at St. George’s Loweville has dwindled to about 8 people and they meet in houses, not the parish building.
The diocesan spin is, it’s a part of Fresh Expressions – for octogenarians.
You are wrong sir. By chance yours truly happened on the flock at Lowville last Sunday and was impressed by the number of attendees. Its a good sized congregation holding fast to what they believe is right. Didn’t expect that from me did you? I too was amazed but that is the way it is.
are you sure you want to hear anymore from me? LOL.
obituary – yes, I still want to hear from you; I was going by a lady who seemed to be complaining that she was attending St. George’s but was meeting in a house with about 8 people. If that isn’t accurate, then by all means set the record straight.
How many people were there?
Good grief I didn’t count them. Not my thing. I had landed up from another church in the area that had canceled its service and sought refuge at St George’s at the tail end of things. I really only had the sense that for an Anglican church of these days there were a lot of people. In hindsight considering the need for such an early start (8:30) they do rather well. I’d guess 25-30. I’m not good at this. I was praying for salvation if the truth be known. I think its a common pursuit in churches. But it certainly was way way more than 8. Good coffee too.
Maybe I’ll toddle off to the infamous St Hilda’s this Sunday and get you a count. If they let me in. Mind you I wonder if they are doing Corpus Christi with all the smells and bells? Hmmm a canopy would be nice, hey a MONSTRANCE! Think not? Maybe not then.
Obituary, if you toddle off to St. Hilda’s this Sat. at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM you can get yourself a free car wash. No payment or love offerings will be accepted. Part of our outreach to the community and a demonstration of the fathers love. Get it while you can before we lose access to His building.
Meet some of your soon to be displaced brothers and sisters. Coffee is free and we will even pray for you or any need you may have.
Sounds great! Just one thing. Which St Hilda’s is doing the car wash. The ANIC or the ACoC bunch? Just want to know what may be in that coffee. LOL.
But although this is a fine effort on the part of what ever party is doing it I must decline as I an haring off to the local Greater Niagara Prayerbook Society Branch’s “Wine Tour”. http://www.pbsgreaterniagara.org/?p=61
on Saturday. They might let me join in. I’ll count the numbers ………of wineries they hit. Have fun everyone. Tis a fine thing to be an Anglican and we must all make the most of it. In any way we can. Yes pray for me.
